How to achieve the AWS Machine Learning Specialist certification

Taking an AWS specialization can help boost your career. However, the exams are not easy to pass. Here are some tips and useful resources to achieve this certification.

Preparation

Due to my job, I already had experience using Machine Learning models, but I decided to prepare using two important resources. AWS provides a lot of material for its certifications, such as:

Test Exam

To verify that you have truly acquired the necessary knowledge, it’s quite useful to test that knowledge with practice exams in an environment similar to what you will encounter in the actual exam. For my preparation, I opted to use the services of: https://portal.tutorialsdojo.com/

• Timed exams

I recommend starting with the “review” mode, as it immediately shows you if your answers are correct or incorrect and provides explanations for each question’s solution. After that, attempt the timed exams to help you improve your answering speed, and finally, take the final exam.

Certification Exam

The exam can be taken in two formats: Online and in-person. However, since the exam center hours didn’t align with mine, I chose to take it online.

It’s crucial to designate a quiet space with a good internet connection to complete the exam. At the start, the Proctor will ask you to verify your space, ensuring there are no foreign objects or people nearby.

Exam Tips

• Assume you will run out of time. Manage your time effectively and avoid spending too much time on a single question.
• If you’re unsure about an answer, mark it for “review” and return to it later.
• Look for keywords that provide hints about the answer. Words like “real-time,” “linear model,” and “RMSE” can provide valuable clues about the correct answer.
• Eliminate answers that are highly unlikely. It’s easier to choose between a smaller number of options, so rule out improbable or inconsistent answers first.

Obtaining the Machine Learning Specialist certification can open up professional opportunities or strengthen your confidence for a new role within your current job. It’s not an easy certification to achieve, but undoubtedly, it’s one that’s well worth obtaining for your career.
